United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases
The United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) is the center of excellence for medical biodefense research in the DoD. USAMRIID scientists focus on the identification and initial development of medical countermeasures—such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics—to protect military personnel against biological threats and naturally occurring endemic diseases.

Akimeka Technologies supports USAMRIID’s vital mission of protecting the warfighter by developing threat countermeasures. We provide personnel who support world-class research on extremely dangerous biological agents. These studies are often conducted in maximum containment environments such as biosafety level (BSL)-3 and BSL-4 laboratories. Our team includes physical and biological scientists; physicians, nurses, and allied medical personnel; veterinary medicine staff; laboratory, technical, and administrative personnel; and specialists in a variety of disciplines, including IT, regulatory management, technology transfer, protocol administration, data management, and quality assurance and control.

By supporting basic and applied medical research in a safe and secure environment, Akimeka Technologies is helping USAMRIID address current threats to our armed forces and prepare for future biological threats that may confront our nation.
